Nationally recognized as one of the few remaining boarding schools of its kind in the United States, Grand River Academy offers a non-military, nonsectarian, all-male college preparatory education. The academy celebrated 175 years of education in 2006! Since 1962, the academy has upheld a mission to develop and foster the emotional and academic maturity necessary for its students to graduate and launch successful college careers. The Academy's curriculum is college preparatory, with an emphasis on helping those students who can benefit from the extra attention offered in a boarding program.
Our location, in the small rural community of Austinburg, Ohio, allows for a harmonious blend of the traditional past and the practical present. Our size, 120 students, allows for much individual attention, both in class and out, and ultimately gives all students the chance to gain real identity.
The Grand River Academy accepts boys in grades 9 through 12 and a post-graduate year. We believe that responsible and educated students are developed through a structured yet flexible atmosphere for intellectual, social, and physical growth. Students, including those who are not working near their potential, are assisted in preparing for a college education after graduation. An integral part of the program is the dedicated staff, whose members emphasize individual attention for every student willing to make a commitment to his education, to personal growth, and to a better understanding of the society in which he must function.
